About Me

I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist with a specialization in working with children, adolescents, families and young adults.  My private practice is located in proximity to Montclair Village, Oakland, California. I have worked with many youth in a variety of settings including several schools. My title in the schools was primarily school counselor. The last school I worked at for eleven years was called Julia Morgan School for Girls, (JMSG). JMSG is a girls’ private middle school in Oakland, where I work with students on emotional and behavioral issues and provide support and consultation to parents and faculty.  Additionally, I created and implemented the school’s Social Emotional Learning Program and taught the curriculum to all three grade levels.

Prior to JMSG, I spent seven years working as a school counselor and facilitating groups in co-ed school environments from kindergarten through high school.  I’ve conducted individual, family and group therapy sessions in small clinics as well as in private practice and school settings.  I have additional experience in administering, scoring and interpreting psychological assessments, as well as, creating and implementing Section 504 Plans/Special Accommodations in California schools.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Santa Barbara, California.  I received additional graduate training in School Psychology and School Counseling from Sacramento State University and St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California, where I earned my Pupil Personnel Credential in School Counseling (PPS)

Ongoing training and consultation are an integral aspect of my clinical work. Each week, I attend a professional online training group at Stanford University led by Dr. David Burns, one of the fathers of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). I also attend a monthly CBT consultation group that focuses specifically on children and adolescent treatments and best practices. Currently, I am an active member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and the National Associate of School Psychologists (NASP). During the summer months. I attend various workshops to build on my formal education and professional training and to stay abreast of the emerging issues and the latest techniques relating to child and adolescent psychotherapy and counseling.
